In 1985, Ken and Linda Helser purchased fifty-two acres of land in the heart of North Carolina that they named A Place for the Heart. Since then, this land has facilitated numerous men’s and women’s retreats, youth camps, and discipleship schools such as the 18 Inch Journey. Many of the original buildings on the land that once used to house farm equipment are now functioning as music, art and photography studios, as well as community living spaces. We believe in using what we have and stewarding what the Lord has provided. As a staff, we are continuing to dream into more renovations to help this land grow into an even more effective ministry. All donations made to A Place for the Heart sow directly into the ministry and seeing people transformed by the love of God.
support the 18 inch journey campus campaign
Over the past five years, the 18 Inch Journey staff and schools have nearly doubled in size. The vision for the Campus Campaign is to develop the campus at A Place for the Heart to support our growth as a ministry. Thanks to supporters who gave last fall, we raised over 100,000K to build the 18 Inch Journey classroom, which completed Goal 1 of the Campus Campaign.
Current Goal : Third Cabin
This spring we are launching the second goal of the 18 Inch Journey Campus Campaign, which is to build a third cabin to house more students and guests at our schools and retreats. This cabin is our most immediate need however we have more long-term needs and continue to dream into building more spaces on our land. By supporting Jonathan and Melissa, you are partnering with this ministry's passion to worship the Father and see how His love changes lives. Learn more about the campaign here.
