Our life of ministry began in 1970 by keeping runaways in our home and running a coffee-house with Youth Unlimited.  I did a five minute radio show called “The Lovelight Salvation Show” that aired throughout the country.  Through a vision from God we were given a 191 acre farm that we called, “God’s Farm,” and began to minister to troubled kids.  I did prison ministry through Chuck Colson’s “Prison Fellowship” ministry all over the South East.

Prison ministry was so draining that I was advised to take up a hobby.  So I bought some watercolors.  They were simple and fun, but then I realized that somewhere within was the desire to do some serious painting.  That was about the time the Lord gave me a word, a key, to understanding his Kingdom.  He said, “The key to discipline is desire.”

I realized that I learned to play piano, write songs, preach, paint, and write newsletters, not because I had to, but because I was discovering the treasure of God inside myself.  I worked hard at what I did, but it wasn’t a chore, it was play.  As I learned who God was I began learning who Ken was, and discovering my passion, my destiny, and His will for my life.

A friend suggested that I print a water color of some daisies along a split railed fence.  I was astonished when it sold out in less than six months.  A new ministry began with paintings and stories.

Today Linda and I are doing retreats from our ministry called, “A Place for the Heart.” We are also going around the world ministering in Youth With A Mission Schools.  I never would have believed all the good things that awaited us when we gave God our everything.

In Matthew 7 Jesus said, “You will know a man by his fruits.” The greatest fruit of my life is my family.  Long ago the Lord revealed to Linda that the foundation of our ministry began with family.

Long before I ever knew Linda, with big brown eyes that get anything they want… and long before she met that bleached-blond singer in a rock n’ roll band named Ken, God knew.  God chose.  God put us together.  We are one in the Lord with a precious family who all love and follow Jesus.  They are all living creative lives.  That is because Linda and I came from loving parents who prayed us into the Kingdom of God.  We, in turn, want to pass the blessing of our forefathers into the next generation, and the next, because the Lord has “turned the hearts of children to their fathers, and the hearts of father toward their children…” Malachi 4:6
